Money Is Not Your Priority

When I titled my first ebook Money Is Not Your Priority, it sparked quite the debate. Some questioned why I would make such a statement, while others outright argued against it. But the truth is, a profound misunderstanding of money has led to countless atrocities in our society, cutting across political, social, economic, and even religious spheres.

Take, for instance, the recent tragic incident of two missing girls from Aba. They had traveled to Aba to meet a man they had connected with on Facebook, lured by his promise of one million Naira for spending the weekend with him. The horrifying outcome? One of the girls was found dead, allegedly used for ritual purposes, while the other remains missing.

This heartbreaking story is just one of many, especially among our youth today. We see it in fraudulent activities, such as Yahoo Yahoo, 419 scams, ritual killings, and other forms of man’s inhumanity to man. It’s a stark reflection of our society’s values.

We have unfortunately equated success with the accumulation of money. This flawed mindset drives people to go to extreme lengths, even committing heinous acts, just to get rich. But how did we get here?

The day we started worshiping money, placing it above pursuing our true purpose, creating meaningful impact, and working hard, was the day we lost our way. Success isn’t something to be chased; it’s something you attract by the person you become. Similarly, money is a means of value exchange, a by-product, and a tool. It’s crucial to understand that you can’t discuss money without addressing the value you offer.

The amount of money you attract is directly linked to the value you provide. The quality and quantity of the value you deliver will determine your financial rewards. Give more value, and you will attract more money. It’s that simple. There is no such thing as getting something for nothing. Always ask yourself: what am I willing to exchange for the money I want?

In my next blog post, I’ll share practical tips on how you can transform yourself into a person of value. Stay tuned for that! For now, I leave you with this final thought: money should never be your priority.

Focus on becoming a person of value, and watch as success and wealth follow naturally.
